GIVE THANKS. GIVE BACK. GIVE AWAY.

Lovelies!

I’m kicking off this giveaway a few hours early, due to it being a holiday tomorrow.

Not only is today (tomorrow) Thanksgiving here in the US, but it’s also the 22nd, and therefore one month closer to THE ARCHIVED hitting shelves.

In TWO SHORT MONTHS, a book that has taken more than its fair share of blood, sweat and tears–those stories do love their sacrifices–will FINALLY be on shelves. I get a little worked up just thinking about it. I am so very scared, and so very excited, but most of all, I am so very THANKFUL.

And that’s what today (tomorrow) is about.

Being thankful.

SO.

This month’s giveaway is very special. Why?

First, there is only ONE PRIZE.

The winner will receive a KEY.

And that key will be redeemable for…one signed copy of each of my books for the next THREE YEARS.

That means every title that comes out in 2013, 2014, and 2015. I can tell you that right now I don’t even have books on the schedule for 2015, but in 2013 and 2014 alone, there are SIX. So that’s six first edition books. Signed.

Just like with the other giveaways, you can earn entries a variety of ways, from commenting, to tweeting, facebooking, changing your avatar, etc.

BUT HERE’S WHY IT’S SPECIAL.

For EVERY person that enters (up to 500 people), I will donate $1 to a charity. There are three charities in the form, and when you enter, you get to choose where your $1 goes.

HOPEFULLY, at the end of this, we will not only have a winner, but there will be $500 divided up between three very deserving causes.

Why am I doing this?

Because I’m thankful. Because after a few very tight years, years where I couldn’t afford to donate more than a few dollars to causes, this year I can. I know that for some, $500 isn’t much, but for me it’s a lot, and I’m so happy that I have the ability this holiday to not only pay my bills, but give back.

So please, spread the word, and HELP ME GIVE BACK.

The giveaway will run from now (Wednesday night) until SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25th at 9PM EST.

Ready?

Go.

I’m thankful for a lot this year: I wrote two first drafts, I rewrote AY – all this when I thought I was broken and done as a writer, when I thought the stress of real life had worn me too thin. And I’m especially thankful for the people who’ve put me back together, especially my sister and my boyfriend.

I am thankful for my family and friends, for being able to study abroad in England this term with some of said friends, for the community around YA reading/writing (especially authors like you, who are so fun to talk to and so talented!), and just for the experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met in general.

I’m thankful for all the amazing artists, both in words and music, I’m lucky enough to discover. There’s so much talent in this world, and I love sharing it. What a wonderful idea! Happy Thanksgiving, Victoria.

  20. I am thankful for the amazing people out there who give to others in need weather it is through funds, time or a helping hand, for bookstores that make escape and learning so readily available, for the chance to live this life I have been given to its fullest and move past obstacles that try to block any path I might choose to take and most of all, for imagination. I don’t know where I would be without it but probably not on the blog of an amazing author entering a contest for novels filled with it. :-p There is so much more, so much to be thankful for but truly, right now it all comes down to that for me.

Absolutely amazing giveaway! Hopefully one day I can do the same but for now it is an inspiration to see others like you who know how much $500 mean to you, but also how much more it might mean at this time to a cause and the care of others who need it. ❤

  21. Lili says:

In all honestly, I’m really thankful to still have my house and a job. I was hit my Sandy and while we lost internet and cable and power on and off for 10 days, I constantly had heat. I never realized how much I took for granted, that that extra spaghetti for dinner could be put in a Tupperware for left-overs since the grocery stores were closed for so long. Or that I could shut the car off to preserve that little bit of gas since it took us 8 days after Sandy to finally fill up our car once more while we had to watch people beat each other up on gas lines. Seeing my best friend’s marina in ruins was devastating and knowing an elderly couple who was supposed to go into heart surgery the day after Sandy in long island killed me, especially since they lost their home and both their cars. I’m thankful for a lot more now than I was before Sandy hit because she really put things in perspective for me. Needless to say, I chose for my dollar to go to the red cross for this reason.

I’m also really thankful for my love of books. Reading got me through Sandy and allowed me to focus on something other than the wind threatening to blow out my windows. It really soothed me, which is why I have my charity to get books to impoverished children as my senior project. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to give up reading, especially after that experience. heh

Wow, I am so sorry this response was so long. Totally unloaded by accident.

  22. eayc says:

I’m thankful for my husband, who supports me both when I write, and when I’m too depressed to do anything but curl up for a few days.

  26. JenniferK says:

I am thankful for my family and book friends that make me smile when I’ve had a hard day.

  27. Jessica R says:

I’m thankful for so many things, but one of them is the fact that I have the privilege of attending university, which I had always planned to do. As tough as it can be (especially now – I should be writing a paper!), it’s something that a lot of people who may want to do it don’t get the opportunity for.

  28. I’m Canadian and we celebrate Thanksgiving in October, and although the “day” of giving thanks might be over, I will be forever grateful for my husband and children. They keep me going on the days when I don’t think that I can.

  29. As with every year, I find that Thanksgiving gives me some perspective. I might spend lots of time during the year grumbling about this or worrying about that, but truthfully, I’m lucky. Not because of any big reason, but rather lots of important ones: I have my family around me, great friends to make me smile, my health and my job and my books. Every day something happens that makes me happy, even if I don’t notice it right away or it’s overshadowed by something crappy. But I am always at least a little bit happy every day for different reasons, and that’s something I’ll gladly be thankful for today (tomorrow) and every day.
Such a great idea, Victoria! Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Also? I’m thankful for life itself. So much potential, so many things to do—far more than can ever really be done, and it’s beautiful and messy and complicated and wonderful. Life is amazing.

  49. JP says:

I’m thankful for the friends I’m lucky to have, the amazing oppurtunities I get (like education, ability to afford the clothes, books, music, etc. that I love, and so on), and belonging to the awesome communities I do (Nerdfighteria, different fandoms, the YA community, etc.)

  50. I’m so thankful that there are lovely, giving people like you out there. *huggles* I wish I could do more, but this is one of those ‘just scraping by’ type of years, so I’m glad that there are people like you willing to make a difference.

And thank you as well for the awesome giveaway! =)

  51. Kellie says:

I’m thankful for being Canadian, and hopefully that means I can still enter this giveaway.

  52. I’m thankful for coffee, for chocolate, for my family even when they drive me crazy, for books, for poetry, for sunsets, for red maple trees in November, for my husband when he says “I love you” in the middle of the night, for avocados, for ice cream, for warm socks, for rain, for Twitter, for French bulldogs, for waffles, for strangers who smile at me when they don’t have to, for my job, for the ocean, for the sand still on the bottom of my purse from months ago, for emails in all caps, for the right to vote, for cherries, for Skype, for magnolias, for things that can make me cry, for cats, for libraries, for Nutella, for the urge to write, for the time to write, for my friends, for so so many other things!

  60. SweetMarie83 says:

You are so amazing! Not only for giving us a chance to win, but for donating to charity. I know what it’s like to basically live hand-to-mouth – I did it for a really long time, and although I’m definitely not swimming in cash, I finally have the ability to donate here and there, and $500 may not be a lot to some people, but it could be everything to others.

As for what I’m thankful for…my family. They’re my rock, they keep me going, they love me unconditionally, they accept me weird, quirky ways, and they’re always there for me. I’d be nothing without them. I’m also thankful for books and the people who write them (like you!) and the people who read them. Happy Thanksgiving!

  73. I don’t even know where to start. I am from-the-heart grateful for so, so much this year. I am grateful for all of the opportunities I’ve been able to partake in, for the incredible friends I’ve made and those I’ve known, for the books I read and the unbelievably kind and heartfelt authors that create them and share their inspiration.

I am thankful. Always. And this post is beautiful.

  75. Emily says:

It’s incredibly difficult to say all of the things I am thankful for, so I’ll name a select few. I am thankful for having great parents and an awesome sister. I am thankful for my family having a steady household income, as small as it may be. I am thankful for Polar Bears International sending me to Churchill, Manitoba to study polar bears when I was 16 – that was a life-changing experience and has opened many doors for me. It also changed my entire career path! I am thankful for people who care enough to make a difference, however small or large that difference might be, for the environment and animals. Finally for this shortened list, I am thankful for books and their authors, for providing people with the possibility of escaping the real world when we need or want to, and for inspiring me to write often and dream big!

  76. Merin says:

I’m most thankful for my new job, which allows me to work with kids AND talk with them about the importance of reading! I love trying to match my (rather difficult) students with books they’ll love. 🙂

  77. Susan says:

Like so many others I am thankful for too many things to name them all here, that if I did begin to try, I might not finish for another week or two. But I’ll stick to my majors and keep it short: my crazy family and friends that oddly enough keep me sane, I have only one idea of what I would be without them…vapor; and of course, all of the wonderful imaginations that are able to beautifully string words together and create new realities for me to explore, thank you to all the authors that have made an impression on me, and to all of authors that will in the future, THANK YOU!

  78. sam says:

I’m thankful for having the means and ability to have the luxury of reading.

  79. KT Simpson says:

  80. I’m in Australia this year, so I not only miss American Thanksgiving, but I missed spending my Thanksgiving – the Canadian one – with my family and friends. I am thankful that even though my flat is not mine, I at least have a roof over my head and love in my heart. This is one of the most amazing giveaways I’ve heard about. I’m very thankful for my family and my closest friends because I honestly don’t know what I’ll do without their constant support for every decision I make. And I don’t make the best decisions in the world.

    Happy holidays everyone (:
